6 forks

July 26th, 2006

I had a great vantage point from the comfort of my train seat to view a terric storm sweeping across the Midlands and Hertfordshire, with no fewer than 6 bolts of lightning making contact with trees and buildings during a 1/2 hour period.

I was on my way back from Liverpool, where I had spent a pleasant afternoon training clients.

I love being out and about and hope to see more of the countryside over the coming months.

Bad Lads Army Extreme

July 25th, 2006

We’ve not been watching this series at all. There is too much Reality TV at present.

What did people do for entertainment before Reality TV?

Oh I know ~ they talked to each other, now theres a concept!

Monday already

July 24th, 2006

Is it just me or are the weeks getting shorter? It seems like only a few days ago that I was starting my weekly commute.

Another new week with a fresh set of challenges - bring it on!

Where did the weekend go?

July 23rd, 2006

This weekend seemed to fly by!. We were invited to a family wedding near Havant and caught the train on Saturday morning, arriving in plenty of time to help with the final preparations then to get scrubbed up and head off to the church. Church weddings are a novelty for me as a large number of weddings in Australasia are held in venues or outdoors.
After the service we all headed for the after-match and celebrated with more family and friends of the couple.
We arrived back home late Sunday afternoon, following a short tour of the countryside and a bacon croissant fryup.

Champagne and Pizza for dinner before heading off to bed to rest-up in anticipation of a busy week ahead. Is it Friday yet?

Sat outside in the garden…

July 21st, 2006

We’ve only just come inside from a nice evening spent out in the garden (kitchen table and all!)
This evenign we were too bushed to cook so ordered in (Indian) and had a few beers in the great outdoors, surrounded by wildlife, Squirrles, Swifts, Seagulls, Woodpeckers and even Blackbird and Robin came to join us.

What a superb evening. We’ll have to do it again soon.

Warwick - a cute town

July 20th, 2006

I had the pleasure of visiting Warwick for business yesterday and will have to visit one weekend too.
Chiltern trains have a special that we will have to take advantage of - including entry to Warwick Castle.

If anyone can recommend a great cafe for me to visit too I would be much obliged.

Out of the office and into the heat…

July 19th, 2006

Not that I am complaining though. I managed to see the sun, and bask in the mini heatwave we are experiencing.
I’m away tomorrow too but will pack an umbrella as the forecast is not so rosy.
The benefit to all this travel is that I am being paid to see the countryside.
I won’t be so keen to travel in the winter though…

How many nuts?

July 17th, 2006

How many nuts can a Squirrel fit in it’s mouth?
It all depends on the type of nut

The average number of Peanuts is 3, and Hazelnuts 2.
Mrs Cyril has been visiting nightly and stuffing as many nuts as she can into her mouth before burying them like mad.
I haven’t seen this level of activity from her since last Autumn.
Are we in for a big freeze this winter?

Cooking for 30

July 16th, 2006

Thanks Becs for a great night last night!
I was invited to cook for 30 people, bbq style, and had a great time. Everyone was a laugh and the atmosphere in SW2 was awesome. The sun was shining, the birds were singing and the sound of laughter filled the air.
We stumbled home shortly after 9 (having been there since just after 3pm) and collapsed into bed. I’m sure there will be a few sore heads today, as the Pimm’s punch was going down a treat.
The paddling pool (axa ice box) was a great idea, and kept the beverages ice cold even in the sun.

The pavlova was well received too.

Another bbq has been planned for tonight, although this time only for 4 people.
BBQ’s are what summer is all about!
