Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…

January 24th, 2007

Well it did last night and the walk to work was brilliant.
Quiet and pretty, bright and chilly, and oh so worth it!

Sadly all the snow had melted by the time I came home today.

Oh well, at least it snowed in the winter of 2007!

Our bed arrived today

January 19th, 2007

King Size, Dark Brown Leather bed, memory foam mattress… assembly required - that’ll keep me entertained for the morning…

I decided to buy a toolbox for my DIY tools, stopping short of the radio fitted version (which just screams ‘Chav!’)
At least they’ll now be out of the lounge…

F**k’n Fraudsters

January 15th, 2007

I’ve had my card cloned by a fraudster and over £700 has been taken from my account. This is the second time in under 2 years, with 2 different banks now.

The irony is that I shred all my documents, keep all details as private as possible and have unrelated passwords on internet banking accounts etc.

My new card is being sent to my local branch and the fraudster(s) are likely to be prosecuted, as the muppets tried to pay their power bill and council tax using my details - not a clever move…

Service with a smile (and on a Saturday too)

January 6th, 2007

We ordered a new oven element last week and received it in the post 2 working days later. Next came the challenge of fitting it to our oven. Not wanting to electrocute myself I enlisted the services of a professional, scouring the Thompson local for tradesman in my area.
I came across a friendly man who had time to fit the element today, turning up on time, working and chatting and giving great tips as he went about his business.
The added bonus is that he is not VAT registered so we didn’t have a VAT charge to pay, thus reducing our outlay.

From no main oven to a working soultion for less than £75 (including labour and parts) I am impressed, giving us a few years extra life (hopefully) for our oven.

Train travel - the only way to go!

January 2nd, 2007

Another trip up north today, visiting our Stockport office. I travelled Virgin both ways and had a very comfortable trip in both directions, my only gripe being that the power sockets did not work and I could not power my laptop - ironic really considering there is a direct power feed to the train to keep it moving.

Oh well, at least I got to gaze out the window at the countryside hurtling past at a great rate of knots.

I love travelling to our Northern offices as I get a chance to relax and enjoy the view instead of driving.
