Nearly 900000 will not submit their tax return on time

January 31st, 2006

What are they thinking? Are they mad?

It’s not that hard to do, and £100 fine plus interest is more than most accountants will charge you for the privilege of filling in your return.

I submitted mine online on Boxing Day (yeah I know, shouldn’t have been anywhere near the laptop, but I got it done!) and I received a cheque dated 04 January 2006 for the payment to me.

Now that’s service!

Well, considering HMCE makes roughly £900m a year from stupidity/laziness alone, they should have a pretty good system to deal with those of us who submit on time.

P.S If your’re reading this and thinking “I should get around to doing this now” you’re probably too late.
